You look at your cell phone before bed?

Are we aware of the effects of looking at the screen of our mobile phone before sleeping? In addition to the proven harmful effects caused by maintaining the wifi connection of our mobile phone during the nights, blue light of our mobile has a direct effect on our brain and body.

As we already know, when it is at night, our brain becomes confused with artificial light, as it mimics the sun's brightness. This causes the brain to stop producing melatonin, the hormone that sends the message to our body that "the time for sleep" has arrived and helps us fall asleep.

Because of this, mobile phone light can disrupt our sleep cycle, making it harder to fall asleep and rest overnight, and consequently causing health problems along the way.

Here's how it works in our brain and body:

  1. Sleep interruption can cause distraction and impair MEMORY the next day.
  2. A bad night of sleep caused by exposure to mobile light also affects our LEARNING AND COMPRESSION ability during the day.
  3. In the long term, not getting good night's sleep can lead to NEUROTOXICITY, which will make it even more difficult to get restful sleep.
  4. People with melatonin suppression who have their internal clock atrophied by overexposure to blue light are more prone to DEPRESSION.
  5. Not sleeping well and malfunctioning melatonin hormones can also affect the functioning of hormones that control our appetite and increase our risk of OBESITY.
  6. There is evidence that overexposure in the light of screens causes PREMATURE MACULAR DEGENERATION in our eyes.
  7. The connection between exposure to blue light at night and the consequent sleep disorder, and the increased risk of breast and prostate cancer, is being studied.

These are some of the effects on our body and brain derived from receiving blue light from your mobile screen. If like me, you're the one who always looks at the phone before bed, it's normal for you to worry. Do not suffer, if you think it might be difficult to change that habit, you can always use blue anti-light glasses which block harmful rays and neutralize the glow.

Still, whenever you can replace your phone with a book before bed, your health and spirit will thank you.
