How to choose the perfect blue light blocking glasses?

If you have already visited our blog, you will know about the dangers of blue light and how it affects vision problems, sleep cycles, stress, etc. But you may be wondering how exactly it works.

Computer glasses are designed to optimize vision while looking at digital screens. They are specially designed to reduce glare (the main cause of eye strain), increase contrast, and maximize what is seen through the lenses, making it easier for our eyes not to tire while looking at the screen for a long time.

There are three main features that computer glasses share:

    1. An AR (anti-reflective) coating: this coating reduces the impact of glare from the screen and other light sources.
    2. Color tint: Some blue light glasses have slightly tinted lenses. In our case, the collections in which this coloration is most noticeable are the gaming glasses ranges and biohacker collections, which, in addition to offering protection against blue light, their coloration helps to achieve better screen contrast and different features specific to the collection. E.g.: biohackers facilitate the regulation of circadian sleep cycles.
    3. Frame material: There are three main types of material used for eyeglass frames: acetate, TR90, and PC (polycarbonate or plastic). The differences between these three materials may seem minor, but when it comes down to it, they are key to a good visual experience. At Apricotte primarily Apricotte acetate, an extremelydurable materialthat prevents the frame from breaking easily while maintaining its lightness. Additionally, acetate has good shape memory, meaning that if the frame becomes deformed, it can be easily repaired. For our gaming eyewear line, the material of choice is TR90, which provides maximum lightness during endless gaming sessions. PC frames are much more fragile and of lower quality, so we never use this material (we’re plastic-free!).
In conclusion, when it comes to caring for your eyes, don't settle for just any glasses—always choose the best quality.
