What is blue light doing to you?

If you've come this far, it's because you've heard about blue light and want to know how it affects your eyes and how to prevent its effects.

Without getting into complicated physics, depending on its wavelength, light is divided into different colors: red, green, yellow, violet, and, indeed, blue light. Blue light rays with shorter wavelengths are much closer to the ultraviolet light spectrum and are therefore sometimes referred to as violet-blue light.

According to neuroscientist Shelby Temple*, blue-violet light, in its natural form and in small amounts, is not particularly harmful; however, the increased use of technology, and especially the widespread use of digital screens, has caused our eyes to be overexposed to these harmful blue light waves, which they are unable to block, causing significant vision problems and disruptions to our sleep cycles.

Since our eyes are unable to block blue light, it penetrates the retina directly, damaging photosensitive cells and causing alterations similar to macular degeneration, which leads to accelerated vision loss.

That is why experts recommend reducing the amount of time we spend looking at our mobile devices. However, at a time when screen exposure is more widespread than ever, protecting our eyes with blue light glasses that can effectively block these waves is crucial to avoiding long-term eye problems and possible imbalances in our biorhythms.
