COMPUTER VISUAL SYNDROME
Computer Vision Syndrome is a symptom caused by looking at digital devices for long periods of time throughout the day. This overexposure to screens causes vision problems and discomfort in both the short and long term. Computers, tablets, laptops, and TVs all cause a variety of symptoms in people who overexpose themselves.
The main harmful effects are:
1. Eye fatigue and strain
- Dryness and itching
- Tired and blurred vision
- Headache
2. Macular degeneration
Blue light affects the cellular tissue in the center of the retina and can accelerate macular degeneration (AMD).
3. Sleep disorders
Blue light interferes with the secretion of melatonin, which regulates sleep cycles. Looking at the powerful blue light from screens at night causes the brain to send us the wrong message: it's dawn, get going! This makes it difficult for us to fall asleep and rest.
According to the American Optometric Association, leaders in the study of the effects of screens on our visual health, it is estimated that between 50% and 90% of computer users suffer from symptoms of so-called "digital eye strain." The number of cases is increasing exponentially as digital devices become more and more integrated into our lives.

It is within our power to curb the harmful effects caused by overexposure to blue light from screens. Moderate use of electronic devices and wearing blue light blocking glasses are two simple practices with incredible positive effects.
